Man who helped barricade Manchester synagogue says attacker was 'monster' who 'tried every door'
Two worshippers died and four were injured during a Yom Kippur terrorist attack at Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue, survivors prayed nearby in defiance.
- On Saturday, survivors of the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue gathered in a nearby portacabin to pray two days after the attack that left two people dead and four injured.
- During the Yom Kippur service at Heaton Park, Jihad al-Shamie, 35-year-old attacker, rammed a car and used a knife and plant pots to try to force entry.
- Police shot the attacker seven minutes after the first 999 call, while congregants barricaded doors as he tried each entrance.
- On Friday , the community held vigils and funerals for Adrian Daulby, 53, and Melvin Cravitz, 66, attended by Phil Rosenberg and senior ministers.
- Amid mourning, congregants danced in defiance described by a leader as 'Jewish joy' while Rabbi Daniel Walker led prayers, shared his prayer shawl and thanked volunteers on security and emergency services.
