Logitech’s New Signature Slim Solar+ K980 Keyboard Can Be Powered By A Light Bulb
The solar-powered keyboard features a 10-year battery life and can operate for four months in total darkness, eliminating the need for USB-C charging cables, Logitech said.
- On September 24, 2025, Logitech unveiled the Signature Slim Solar+ K980 keyboard, a full-sized model that requires no batteries or regular recharging.
- Using a LightCharge strip, the keyboard converts sunlight and indoor lighting into electricity to keep its Bluetooth connection powered, with no USB-C port onboard as Logitech says the cell recharges continuously.
- Measured against durability, the keyboard's rechargeable battery lasts up to ten years with iFixit supplying replacement parts, and it runs four months in total darkness after charging.
- Logitech is selling three variants priced at $99 for the Signature Slim Solar+ K980 universal and Mac-only versions, and $109 for the business edition with encrypted Logi Bolt USB-C dongle and Sync monitoring.
- App-First, the Logi Options+ app reports charge status, supports 23 customizable keys, Smart Actions, and the AI Launch Key integrates Microsoft CoPilot, Google Gemini, and ChatGPT, while the graphite version uses 70% recycled material.
