'I'm desperately sorry': Axel Rudakubana's father accepts 'share of the responsibility' after Southport attack
- On Wednesday, Alphonse Rudakubana began giving evidence at the Southport Inquiry and told the inquiry he is desperately sorry for failing to challenge his son Axel Rudakubana's violent behaviour.
- Fearing his son, Alphonse Rudakubana said he became conditioned to violent outbursts up to twice daily, which stopped him and Laetitia Muzayire from setting boundaries or restricting internet access in the family home.
- Records examined by the inquiry note Axel was expelled from Range High School, Formby, in October 2019 after admitting to carrying knives and was arrested two months later after returning armed with a hockey stick and a knife.
- The attack killed three children and injured others; Axel Rudakubana was sentenced to life with a 52-year minimum after killing Bebe King, Elsie Dot Stancombe, and Alice da Silva Aguiar.
- The inquiry, sitting at Liverpool Town Hall, has heard from police, online sellers, schools and others and continues on Thursday; Nicholas Moss KC said a key theme is AR's family ties and online weapons orders.
