IL House GOP: Illinois leads nation in highest effective property tax rates

The Illinois House Republican Caucus announced on X that the state has the highest effective property tax rates in the nation, with four of the five top-taxing metro areas located in Illinois.According to ATTOM’s 2024 U.S. Property Tax Analysis, Illinois led the nation with an average effective property tax rate of 1.87% on single-family homes.
