The number of migrants entering the European Union illegally has fallen by 40 percent during the first four months compared to the same period last year. This is evident from figures released by the European border agency Frontex. According to Frontex, this is due to a combination of various factors: cooperation with partner countries, preventive measures by countries from which migrants depart for Europe, and adverse weather conditions.
