Ikea’s Big Smart Home Push Arrives With 21 New Matter Devices
Ikea's DIRIGERA hub update enables older Zigbee devices to join the Matter smart home ecosystem, supporting 21 new affordable products and boosting cross-brand compatibility.
- On November 6, 2025, IKEA launched 21 Matter-compatible smart home products and upgraded its Dirigera hub to act as a Matter controller and Thread border router.
- Matter, developed by the Connectivity Standards Alliance, was created to enable device interoperability, and IKEA says the relaunch prioritizes simplicity and affordability to broaden smart home access, David Granath said.
- The new lineup includes eleven Kajplats smart bulbs, five sensor types, three Bilresa remote controls and the Grillplats smart plug; adjustable-white bulbs reach 1,521 lumens, and the ALPSTUGA air-quality sensor measures CO₂ and PM2.5.
- All new devices ship as native Matter products so they can work without IKEA’s hub, Dirigera can onboard third-party Matter devices into the IKEA Home Smart app, and rollout targets January 1 start date.
- IKEA’s CSA board role positions it in Matter’s development, adding Thread 1.4 credential sharing to Dirigera, though Matter still lacks support for cameras, doorbells, vacuums, and locks.
