Sweden Democrat slammed for highlighting minister's Iranian background
The leading Sweden Democrat MP Jessica Stegrud has been sharply criticised for a post on X where she seemed to complain that Culture Minister Parisa Liljestrand, who has an Iranian background, was discussing Sweden's new cultural canon.
Sweden now also has its own cultural canon. But it's already attracting criticism, as the legendary pop group ABBA, among others, isn't part of it.
At the request of the right-wing government and its extreme right-wing ally, a commission presented Tuesday, September 2, the cultural canons that are supposed to represent what is typically Swedish in the field. A controversial initiative since its launch, the result of which divides the press of the kingdom.
