GLOBAL, JUL 20 – Eight nations were recognized for innovative cricket programs in fan engagement, female participation, and social impact, with Nepal's digital reach hitting 117 million users, ICC said.
- On Sunday, the International Cricket Council announced that eight nations, including Nepal, Bhutan, and the USA, received top honours at the 2024 ICC Development Awards.
- Launched in 2002, the ICC Development Awards recognize innovative programmes by Associate Members to promote cricket growth worldwide.
- For the first time, the ICC Female Cricket Initiative of the Year award was shared by Bhutan Cricket Council Board and Vanuatu Cricket Association while Tanzania’s Cricket Festival in Dar es Salaam brought together 120 women under the ‘From kitchen to crease’ programme.
- Notably, USA’s men’s team received the ICC Associate Member Men’s Team Performance of the Year award, for reaching the Super Eight stage and their victories over Canada and Pakistan.
- In Indonesia, the ‘Cricket for Confidence’ movement engaged over 300 schoolgirls across five provinces to empower girls socially and physically in remote regions of Indonesia.
