"I intend to make good use of this opportunity" – Heiða Björg on her new position as mayor

Heiða Björg Hilmisdóttir was not in the cards to become mayor, but in less than a week she formed a new left-wing majority in the city of Reykjavík and signed a collective agreement with teachers as chair of the Association of Icelandic Local Authorities after a long dispute and strikes. She says she is good at politics and is passionate about making the city better, which is certainly possible in the fifteen months she has until the election.
