NEW DELHI, INDIA, JUL 21 – Rahul Gandhi accused the ruling party of monopolizing Lok Sabha debates and blocking opposition voices on key issues during the monsoon session, leading to repeated disruptions, opposition said.
- During the Monsoon Session, Rahul Gandhi said the government was silencing dissent, as opposition members were blocked while ministers spoke in New Delhi.
- Both Houses of Parliament were adjourned twice on day one, as opposition members demanded a debate on Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam attack.
- On July 21, the House was adjourned until 2 pm as opposition MPs raised slogans demanding discussion on the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor.
- In response to the disruptions, Kiren Rijiju said, `'raising slogans and disrupting the House on the first day of the Monsoon Session is unacceptable.'`
- Following the standoff, the government plans a 16-hour Lok Sabha discussion on Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam terror attack, scheduled for August 18.
