"I have spoken to the selectors" - Former India opener's huge claim on Mohammad Shami's potential return for NZ vs IND 2026 series
The India veteran boosted Bengal with 4/30 as Delhi were bowled out for 240 in the Ranji Trophy opener.
- On Sunday, Bengal pacer Mohammed Shami took four wickets for 30 runs against Delhi at the Bengal Cricket Academy Ground in Kalyani, marking a strong start to his domestic campaign.
- The 92nd edition of India's premier red-ball domestic tournament began Sunday across 18 venues, with Shami seeking a return to the national squad after his absence since June 2023.
- Dismissing fitness criticism, Shami said he feels no difference in his "inbuilt skill," telling reporters, "You people can see and write. I am inside the ground and am playing," while praising pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar's recent selection.
- Leading the Bengal attack alongside pacer Akash Deep and Mukesh Kumar, Shami's spell restricted Delhi to 240 all out, establishing a competitive position for the hosts on day two.
- While focusing on the Ranji Trophy, Shami continues prioritizing rhythm and fitness amid selector interest regarding a potential return for the New Zealand series expected next year.
