Montevideo. Former Uruguayan president José Pepe Mujica (2010-2015) announced yesterday that the cancer of the esophagus he has been fighting since April last year spread to the liver and decided to abandon treatment.

The disease has spread and there is no cure, the 89-year-old iconic leader of the Left said in an interview.
