The law promoted by the government of ultranationalist Viktor Orbán claimed that the product "sends a series of interrogations and concerns." The veto will apply to all products developed from animal cells and tissues, but not to vegans that replace meat and are made from vegetables.

In Italy, Viktor Orban's country also bans animal products from stem cells from the menu. The reason for this is similar in both EU countries and has to do with "soil" and "identity".
