The A1 is fully open and back to normal this morning after yesterday’s terrifying crash which saw police officers hospitalised and several cop cars destroyed.

The incident happened on the A1 motorway, near Denton, Newcastle, and resulted in seven police officers being injured and four service vehicles destroyed. It all started at around 2am in the Whickham area of Gateshead when officers tried to stop a chaotically driven BMW M Sport.
