Nampula Central Hospital is the largest referral hospital in northern Mozambique, serving a population of more than 7 million people. As the province’s only hospital with intensive care, it takes on the most severe maternal and newborn emergencies. The workload is immense, with up to 50 deliveries a day, overcrowded wards, women sharing beds and newborns sharing incubators.
