Advance voting in B.C. election is down compared to 2024
More than 200,000 ballots were cast Saturday as advance voting nears 12% of registered voters, Elections BC said.
Through Sunday, 440,318 ballots have been cast at polling stations across British Columbia, representing about 12 per cent of all registered voters in the province.
Advance voting has steadily increased in popularity over two decades, though first-three-day turnout trails the record-setting 480,000 ballots cast during the same period in 2024.
Voters in major cities participated in large numbers: Vancouver recorded 51,631 ballots, Surrey 45,918, Burnaby 21,053, Kelowna 18,455, and Richmond 15,553 through Sunday.
Polls remain open through Wednesday, Oct. 21, at stations across British Columbia, with final voting day scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24.
With 3,738,182 registered voters in British Columbia, officials are watching whether turnout will surge in final days, as occurred during the 2024 provincial election.
