Conservative whistle-stop brings Doerkson to Chilliwack
Doerkson said he would cut taxes, boost health care funding and restart long-term care projects while promising support for mills and timber harvests.
On Monday, Conservative Party of BC leader Lorne Doerkson visited Chilliwack to discuss forestry, healthcare, and infrastructure at the Serene Stay & Play Cafe, attended by MLA candidates A'a:l'ya Warbus and Heather Maahs.
Doerkson criticized the administration, citing the loss of 42,000 full-time jobs in British Columbia and claiming more than 40 new taxes were introduced under current policy.
Promising to reduce taxes on the $3.6 billion alcohol industry costing $280 million to $300 million, Doerkson also proposed building a $6 billion bridge to replace the Massey Tunnel in five years.
Doerkson pledged to reverse recent property tax deferment changes for seniors, commit $50 million to healthcare security, and restart seven long-term care facility projects cancelled by the BC NDP.
The forestry industry is failing to reach its 45 million cubic meter annual harvest goal due to permitting barriers, while Doerkson emphasized doubling LNG output by 2032 could generate billions in economic growth.
