Leonardo’s SME programme aims to strengthen UK defence sector

Some 4,500 SMEs, mid-size companies and start-ups work as subcontractors for the ten major armament groups, a sector which weighs 30 billion euros in annual turnover and employs 220 000 people. They try to meet a rapidly growing demand. Reporting in the workshops of the tourangeau Decomatic and the Varis Baumier.

The Greater East Region wants to enter into a partnership with the Ministry of the Armed Forces and gives itself six months before signing a protocol. Here, the two parties will work in particular on the problems of training and conversion, mobility and spatial planning.
