How Cancer Can Work for Healthy Cells

Cancer cells manipulate neighboring cells for their own purposes. As a research team at ETH Zurich has found, they can reprogram neighboring cells in such a way that they help the tumor to grow. "The cancer cells actually use a mechanism that is beneficial for their purposes in case of injury. This allows them to grow into a malignant tumor," explained study leader Sabine Werner in a communication from ETH Zurich on Friday.
