House of Commons passes bill criminalizing forced sterilization
The House of Commons passed a law criminalizing forced or coerced sterilization, defining it as aggravated assault punishable by up to 14 years in prison.
Survivors and advocates have sought changes to the Criminal Code regarding sterilization since 2015.
