At Least 2 Feared Trapped as Under-Construction Building Collapses in Delhi's Harsh Vihar
Rescue teams searched for two men after a newly laid slab gave way during construction, with officials saying the cause and approvals remain unclear.
On Sunday evening, a house under construction collapsed in Milan Garden, Harsh Vihar, Delhi, with police suspecting two men, aged 60 and 36, remain trapped beneath the debris.
Workers were building an additional floor on an old, single-storey house on a 200-square-yard plot when a newly laid slab failed, collapsing onto the structure below.
Dispatched at 6.46 p.m., five fire tenders from the Delhi Fire Services arrived with teams from the National Disaster Response Force, Civil Defence, and the Delhi Disaster Management Authority.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Lamba reported no confirmed casualties, though family members suspect the two men are trapped; some relatives alleged slow rescue progress, attempting debris removal themselves.
Ministers Ashish Sood and Kapil Mishra visited the collapse site later in the evening, as police investigate the cause of the collapse and the status of construction approvals.
