Horse rescued from manure pit in Monroe County

SPARTA, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) - The Sparta Area Fire District assisted with an animal rescue call on Sunday around 9:55 a.m. According to the fire department, it happened on Cedar Road. A horse was in a manure pit and was unable to get out. Crews used some wide tow straps and lifted the horse out of the pit. The horse will be checked by a veterinarian but appeared to be okay.
