Joe Willock Grabs Late Goal as Newcastle Edge Past Millwall
Joe Willock scored the only goal as Newcastle overcame a wasteful attack to secure a 1-0 Carabao Cup win, officials said.
Joe Willock scored the decisive goal on Tuesday as Newcastle United defeated Millwall 1-0, securing a place in the Carabao Cup fourth round.
Despite dominating possession throughout the 90 minutes, Newcastle appeared laboured against Millwall, with Manager Matthias Jaissle noting the team struggled to find rhythm in a hard-fought encounter.
Lewis Hall provided the assist for Willock's 79th-minute winner, while defender Amar Dedic was substituted at half-time after suffering a hamstring injury.
Tino Livramento replaced Dedic for the second half, and Jaissle praised the squad's physical improvement, stating the players were "really pleased" with the outcome.
Dedic's injury could force Livramento into the starting lineup for Newcastle's Premier League clash against Leeds United on Monday at Elland Road.
