A school principal killed herself on Monday in the Cantal after a long homophobic harassment. While she deplored the lack of support from her administration, this new drama raises the question of accompanying the teachers targeted.
On Monday, September 1, Caroline Grandjean, director of the Moussages School in Cantal, committed suicide a year after being forced to leave her class in the face of repeated threats and homophobic tags.
Caroline Grandjean had received insults and threats for several months because of her sexual orientation, according to the prosecutor's office. In 2024, an investigation had been opened and the director had been temporarily arrested before returning to work.
She wrote her dismay to her colleagues just before ending her life. As a victim of homophobic insults and death threats since 2023, 42-year-old school principal Caroline Grandjean threw herself off a cliff on September 1.
At the age of 42, Caroline Grandjean, who taught in a small commune in Cantal, had for several years been insulted by a raven on her homosexuality.
