US animation company to open £28m Glasgow studio

  • Los Angeles-based Halon Entertainment, known for its work on productions like *The Batman* and *The Mandalorian*, will open a new studio in Glasgow, Scotland.
  • Halon Entertainment was drawn to Glasgow due to its skilled workforce in computer graphics, animation, and digital technology, as well as its world-renowned academic institutions.
  • The £28 million facility in Glasgow is expected to create up to 250 jobs over the next three years, complementing Halon's existing operations while its headquarters remain in Los Angeles.
  • Chris Ferriter, President of Halon Entertainment, stated that expanding studios on both sides of the Atlantic will allow them to better support clients with world-class services and top-tier talent, and that the new Scotland studio strengthens their ability to collaborate across time zones.
  • Scottish Enterprise is providing Halon with advisory services and £3.9 million in funding toward the project, which is expected to boost Scotland's digital tech, film, TV, and games industries, reinforcing its position as a global hub for creative technology, backed by the UK's enhanced visual effects tax credit and Screen Scotland's support.
