Supreme Court rules: Young people can be sentenced to long sentences
A 16-year-old boy who shot and killed a man in Solna has been sentenced to eight years and ten months in prison by the Supreme Court (HD). In its landmark ruling, the HD states that courts should be able to impose long prison sentences for young offenders in serious cases.

A 16-year-old who shot and killed a man in Solna in the spring of 2023 has now been sentenced by the Supreme Court to a long prison sentence. The Supreme Court thus establishes that young people who commit very serious crimes can be sentenced to longer prison sentences.
