Heat Wave Gripping Ontario Set to Reach Peak as Temperatures Even Out in Manitoba
Temperatures may reach 36 C with humidex values up to 45 C as Toronto and Brampton activate heat relief measures.
Environment Canada issued a yellow heat warning for Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area beginning Monday, with temperatures expected between 30 and 36 C.
Humidex values are forecast to reach 38 to 45 C throughout the event, which peaks on Tuesday before easing Wednesday evening or Thursday morning.
Officials advise residents to drink water, wear loose clothing, and monitor for heat stroke symptoms including dizziness and confusion; anyone showing signs should call 911 immediately.
Toronto activated its Heat Relief Strategy, opening 57 outdoor pools and 113 contingency shelter spaces, while Brampton provides 24 splash pads and public facilities.
Rising temperatures may also cause air quality to deteriorate as hot and humid conditions persist until the event concludes Wednesday evening or Thursday morning.
