Hall of Fame NHL’er Iginla skates with youth hockey team at Kelowna’s Memorial Cup

The Ontario minor hockey team earned the trip by leading community initiatives and capped it with an on-ice practice at Prospera Place.

  • The Burlington Bulldogs U10 team won the Dr. Oetker Giuseppe Practice with a Pro contest, earning an exclusive on-ice session at Prospera Place in Kelowna with Hall of Fame hockey player Jarome Iginla.
  • Community-Driven initiatives supporting local families and seniors secured the trip, reflecting the program's aim to teach young hockey teams the importance of giving back to their communities.
  • During the session, Iginla focused on skating drills, puck handling, and compete drills alongside his son Joe and assistant coach Patrick Wiercioch. "It was great to see the smiles," Iginla said.
  • Bulldogs player Lochlan Graham called the experience "extremely exciting," noting the team also enjoyed zip-lining, go-karting, and watching the Memorial Cup semi-final game during their Kelowna stay.
  • Previous winners of the program include the U15 Bow Valley Flames from Chestermere, Alberta, the U15 Dalmeny Sabres from Dalmeny, Saskatchewan, and the U11 Western Winds Girls Hockey Team from Tignish, PEI.
