GroenLinks-PvdA and Leefbaar Rotterdam both secured 11 seats in the Rotterdam city council, but GroenLinks-PvdA received more votes on Wednesday.
The results of the municipal elections in Rotterdam present a striking picture. Leefbaar Rotterdam and GroenLinks-PvdA both secured 11 seats in the new municipal council. As a result, the two largest parties in the city have become equal in size. At the same time, the FVD grew from 1 to 2 seats, and the VVD shrank from 6 to 5 seats.
In Rotterdam, GroenLinks-PvdA became the largest party in the municipal elections. The merged party received 22.1 percent of the votes. This was followed by Leefbaar Rotterdam (20.5 percent) and D66 (10.7 percent). GroenLinks-PvdA and Leefbaar Rotterdam ended up with the same number of seats (11).
It appears that Leefbaar Rotterdam will once again become the largest party in the Rotterdam city council. After counting approximately 70 percent of the votes, the party stands at 11 seats. That is one seat more than four years ago. GroenLinks/PvdA also secures 11 seats, but with a smaller number of votes.
