- On Tuesday, the Union Cabinet gave its approval for Airports Authority of India’s plan to build a new greenfield airport in the Kota-Bundi area of Rajasthan, with a projected investment of Rs 1,507 crores.
- This approval followed the Rajasthan government transferring 440.06 hectares of land to the Airports Authority of India for the airport construction.
- The project includes a 20,000 sqm terminal building handling 1000 peak hour passengers, a 3200m x 45m runway, seven A-321 parking bays, and related infrastructure.
- The Centre said the airport construction considers anticipated traffic growth linked to Kota's status as Rajasthan’s industrial capital and educational hub.
- The airport will support regional air traffic expansion, promoting economic and educational connectivity in Rajasthan’s Kota area.
