Great Dane in Upper Austria Injured Pet Owner and Bit Small Dog to Death

A Great Dane broke free from its leash while walking with its owner in Vöcklamarkt (Vöcklabruck district) on Saturday and attacked a small dog. Because the muzzle came loose, the large dog was able to bite and kill the smaller dog several times. While attempting to rescue his pet dog and separate the two animals, the 72-year-old owner of the small dog was also attacked and injured by the Great Dane, police reported.
