- The Central Electricity Authority reports 58 plants now hold coal stocks below 25% of required levels, an increase from 46 at August's end; 53 are domestic coal-fired facilities.
- Coal India increased production to 1.7 million tonnes on September 4 to address supply gaps, while maintaining an adequate stock of 76 million tons at its pitheads.
- The Union Coal Ministry is closely monitoring thermal plants with stocks below 25% of normal requirements, implementing corrective supply measures to ensure continued electricity grid reliability.
