Cost of Commuting Rises as Govt Hikes Fuel Prices

Petrol and diesel prices were raised due to international market changes, with the government recovering Rs1.161 trillion in petroleum levy last fiscal year.

The federal government has increased the price of petrol by Rs5 per litre and high-speed diesel by Rs7.32 per litre for the next fortnight, according to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division late on Sunday night. Petrol has been raised by Rs5 per litre, taking the price from Rs253.17 to Rs258.17 per litre.
