Host Jan Roos of the YouTube channel RoddelPraat has been acquitted of sedition by the court in Leeuwarden. The Public Prosecution Service announced last November that a criminal investigation had been launched against Roos because one of his broadcasts allegedly "incited violence and suggested how to deal with journalists on Ameland during and around the Sunneklaas festival."
The court in Leeuwarden has acquitted Jan Roos of sedition. The presenter of the program RoddelPraat was on trial for his statements about the Sunneklaas festival on Ameland, in which he called on islanders to kick journalists off the island with "pitchforks and torches." According to the judge, the charges did not amount to incitement to violence, but rather to humor and satire.
