ROME (AP) — British cyclist Simon Yates wins the Giro d'Italia.

D-Day at the Tour of Italy went according to the wishes of Britain's Simon Yates (Visma–Lease a Bike), who with a heroic ride on the hellish 20th stage left the leader of Mexico Isaac del Toro (UAE Team Emirates XRG) far behind, took the pink jersey from him and ascended to the Giro throne. Britain's Simon Yates (Visma-Lease a Bike) will be crowned the winner of the Tour of Italy today after a brilliant ride on Saturday's stage moved him from third to the top of the overall standings.
