Federal Finance Minister Klingbeil wants to temporarily support countries and municipalities with around one billion euros per year. The aim is to provide the partly heavily indebted communities with room for manoeuvre, for example for schools, daycare centres or local transport, reports the German Press Agency, citing a draft law of the Ministry of Finance.
As agreed in the coalition agreement, the holes in the cash registers of the cities and municipalities are to be filled with tax money. A reorganization of the financial relations between the federal government, countries and municipalities is still pending.
