Head trauma, PTSD may increase genetic variant’s impact on Alzheimer’s risk

PTSD, TBI, and the �4 variant of the APOE gene showed strong associations with Alzheimer's Disease and related dementias. Researchers carried out the study by accessing data from VA's Million Veteran Program (MVP), one of the world's largest databases of health and genetic information. More than 40% of the Veteran population above the age of 75 is at risk for Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia.
