Gang involved in Wagner Group-ordered arson attack on London warehouse jailed
- On October 24 Dylan Earl, ringleader, and Jake Reeves were sentenced at The Old Bailey, London, for an arson attack on a warehouse storing humanitarian aid and Starlink equipment destined for Ukraine.
- Prosecutors said the offence was part of a series of European-wide sabotage operations, with Earl contacting Wagner in 2023 and working with Reeves to commission the arson, `This offence was part of a series of European-wide sabotage operations`, Duncan Penny said.
- Using Telegram `Privet Bot`, Earl organised recruits and missions; Rose poured petrol on doors while Mensah filmed and FaceTimed Earl and Reeves during the fire.
- The blaze caused significant local damage and demanded eight fire crews, resulting in around £1 million in losses; the sentences were the first under the National Security Act 2023, prosecutors said.
- Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb said the case highlights Russian efforts using social media to enlist saboteurs, linking it to at least 25 Europe-wide plots including attacks in Spain and the Czech Republic.
