FSU's Ethan Pritchard is 'alert, responsive and able to communicate' as his recovery continues
Ethan Pritchard, shot in a mistaken identity case, has been released from hospital and moved to rehab in Jacksonville to continue recovery, with four suspects arrested.
- FSU released Ethan Pritchard from Tallahassee Memorial Hospital and transferred him to Brooks Rehabilitation in Jacksonville, Florida State said on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025.
- Shot on Aug. 31, Pritchard was driving his aunt Zealene Lawrence home in Havana, Florida, when authorities said suspects targeted a similar vehicle in a case of mistaken identity.
- Having undergone surgery the night of the shooting, doctors at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital monitored fluid around Ethan Pritchard’s brain while he was sedated in intensive care for over a month and recently opened his eyes.
- Police arrested four suspects on Sept. 10 and charged Carson Miller, Germany Atkins, Jayden Bodison and a 16-year-old juvenile; three face attempted murder while Atkins faces probation violation.
- After the hospital release, the FSU community showed support as Earl Pritchard said, `I am so thankful for everyone who has prayed for my son` and thanked Gadsden County Sheriff Morris Young.
