Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. said 12 illness reports were linked to the berries, and customers should discard products bought on or before July 3, 2026.

  • Publix is recalling Frozen GreenWise Organic IQF Blueberries due to potential Escherichia contamination across eight states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
  • Frutas Hortalizas Sur, based in Chile, initiated the recall after 12 reports of stomach illnesses linked to Escherichia between May 11 and June 5, 2026.
  • The affected products have lot code 60401 and a best-by date of Feb. 9, 2028; the Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia can cause severe stomach cramps, diarrhea, and vomiting.
  • Publix advises consumers to discard or return GreenWise frozen blueberries purchased on or before July 3 for a full refund; those with questions can call 336-899-5612 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.
  • Symptoms of an Escherichia infection typically appear within three to four days, with most patients recovering within five to seven days; however, certain individuals may experience serious complications.
