South Korea's Naver to Build Gigawatt-Scale AI Factories Using Nvidia Technology

NAVER will use NVIDIA’s DSX platform to serve enterprises, manufacturers and government customers as it scales AI infrastructure from 55 megawatts to gigawatt level.

  • On Sunday, NVIDIA and NAVER announced a partnership to expand sovereign AI infrastructure at the Gak Sejong data center in Sejong, South Korea, starting with 55 megawatts using the NVIDIA DSX platform.
  • The companies plan to scale this infrastructure to a gigawatt, creating AI factories to serve enterprises, government organizations, and cloud customers, potentially accommodating hundreds of thousands of NVIDIA graphic processing units.
  • NAVER will also join the NVIDIA Nemotron Coalition to advance HyperCLOVA X language models, while partnering on physical AI to develop a "Seoul World Model" using proprietary urban street-view data.
  • "Naver's partnership with Nvidia goes beyond a technical one, into a partnership that spans every stage of the value chain," the South Korean company said, adding both firms will share risks and profits.
  • CEO Jensen Huang is in Seoul for a four-day visit meeting with major South Korean conglomerates and is scheduled to tour Naver's 1784 building in Gyeonggi Province, a test bed for robotics.
