UCLA Rewards Cori Close with a 4-Year Contract Extension After Bruins' Run to National Title
Close earned the extension after leading UCLA to its first NCAA title, a 37-win season and a record six players selected in the WNBA draft.
On Tuesday, UCLA announced that women's basketball head coach Cori Close signed a four-year contract extension, keeping her in Westwood through the 2029-30 season.
The Bruins secured their first NCAA title last month by routing South Carolina 79-51, while setting program records with 37 victories and a 31-game winning streak.
In 15 seasons, Close has compiled a 358-144 record and guided the team to 10 NCAA Tournaments, including back-to-back Final Fours in 2025 and 2026.
Six players were selected in the April 13 WNBA draft, including a record five first-round picks, demonstrating the program's success in developing professional prospects.
Athletic director Martin Jarmond praised Close's "character, leadership and daily commitment" in a statement, while Close expressed gratitude to Chancellor Frenk and excitement for the future.
