Frank McGuigan: Tributes pour in for 'The King' after death of GAA icon
The former Tyrone star was remembered for his 1984 Ulster final display and later club service after a career-ending car crash.
TYRONE GAA LEGEND Frank McGuigan has died at 71, leaving behind his wife Geraldine and six children: Brian, Frank Jnr, Tommy, Kristin, Caitlin, and Shay.
The Ardboe clubman captained Tyrone to the 1973 provincial final at age 19 before famously returning from America to help the Rossas capture the 1984 Championship title.
Often referred to as "The Frank McGuigan Final," he landed eight points with his left foot, two with his right, and one with his fist in a 0-15 to 1-07 victory against Armagh.
His four sons Brian, Frank Jnr, Tommy, and Shay all followed in his footsteps to play for Tyrone, winning five All-Ireland medals between them at various levels.
Ardboe GFC paid tribute to the man known as "The King," writing that he "truly put our great club on the map and inspired generations of players who followed.
