Former American billionaire Elon Musk may have expressed his support for Marine Le Pen as the next president of France, but Le Pen's party colleagues are not at all keen on the American's support. Members of the Rassemblement National (RN) are rejecting the show of support one by one. "We didn't ask for anything," a party colleague of Le Pen told Politico.
Elon Musk's support for Marine Le Pen illustrated the RN's difficulty in finding allies aligned with its ideology without damaging ten years of normalization of the French far right.
By calling the RN candidate "the last hope of France" on Wednesday, July 16, the US billionaire plunged into embarrassment the far right party, which is trying to break with the Maga movement.
