France is not defined "by race or religion", says Emmanuel Macron

The President of the Republic described "a universal dream, an ideal, this solidarity, this fidelity to the homeland" which defines the country.

Emmanuel Macron stated Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at a military ceremony at the headquarters of the Foreign Legion, that France was not defined "by a race or religion." A statement in response to the "ambient Islamophobic climate" denounced by representatives of Muslim institutions.
