Paris. French maize production increased its deterioration this week, to record its lowest level in more than 15 years, revealing data from the agricultural agency FranceAgriMer, which confirms fears that the prolonged period of heat and drought has damaged the crops.
The heat wave is intensifying in France on Sunday, July 12. It complicates the work of farmers and breeders. One of them, native to Mayenne, evokes the consequences of the high heats for maize on LCI. - "The yield losses could reach 30 to 50%": a farmer's concern for his maize production due to the high heats (Environment).
Proven by successive heat waves in Europe during the period of pollination, corn is expected to become more rare this year, warned the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Friday, July 10, 2026.
