China’s Guangdong Moves Swiftly to Combat Chikungunya

Chikungunya fever (also known as chikungunya), first discovered in Foshan, Guangdong, has rapidly spread throughout the province, with over 5,000 cases reported. Cases have also been reported in Macau and Beijing. Guangdong is implementing a massive mosquito eradication campaign, with residents facing power outages and suspension of income payments for non-compliance. The scene of long queues for nucleic acid testing has resurfaced.
