Former supply teacher jailed for six years after taking more than 100 upskirt photos of children

Police said Abusali Rahman admitted 21 child sex offences after taking more than 100 covert images and creating sexualised AI pictures of pupils.

  • On October 15, Bolton Crown Court sentenced former supply teacher Abusali Rahman to six years in prison after he admitted 21 child sex offences, including upskirting and creating sexualized AI deepfakes of pupils.
  • Operating across 25 schools in the North West of England since 2022, Rahman abused his position to covertly photograph pupils and steal social media images to create deepfakes of 15 girls aged 13 to 16.
  • Police traced the abuse to Rahman after a parent discovered their daughter's photo on social media in March 2025, leading to raids that recovered 226 indecent images and evidence of a planned £20-per-image sales scheme via Telegram.
  • Senior Crown Prosecutor Alexandra Mann described the actions as "a gross breach of trust," while victims reported feeling embarrassed, "weirded out," and "disgusted and upset" by the images shared online.
  • Detective Constable Lisa McGaffin of Greater Manchester Police warned that criminals are exploiting unregulated AI tools in ways authorities struggled to anticipate over the last 12 months, intensifying pressure for tech platform regulation.
