EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Former Sunland Park Fire Chief Benito Hernadez has died after a crash earlier this month, the Fire Department announced on their X on Wednesday, April 23. Photos: Sunland Park Fire Department The Fire Department says Hernandez died due to injuries sustained in a vehicle crash on Wednesday, April 9 at the 5600 block of McNutt. Hernadez was appointed fire chief in May 1990. No further information has been released.
