Former Carthage CVB director fined $2,000 for misdemeanor stealing from bureau

The former director of the now-defunct Carthage Convention and Visitors Bureau has been fined after she entered an Alford plea to a reduced charge of misdemeanor stealing Monday in Jasper County Circuit Court in Joplin.

Former Carthage Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director 45-year old Callie Myers reached a plea agreement on charges of stealing from the C-V-B. Myers was accused of using the group’s debit card to buy clothes, food, a cellphone and alcohol and more, racking up purchases of nearly $8,000. Under the plea agreement Myers, originally charged with stealing, had her charged reduced from a felony to a misdemeanor. She entered an Alford Plea.…
